Technical traineeship positions have been designed to give participants a better understanding of the organisation and increase their business and technical skills, while undertaking study to obtain an Electrical Advanced Diploma. Traineeship positions become available in many areas of ENERGEX's network business, for trade qualified Electrical Fitter Mechanics, Overhead Linespersons or Underground Cable Jointers, or for non-trade qualified applicants who possess a proven technical aptitude.
Traineeships designed for trade qualified participants involve them undergoing study in an Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering, while those without an electrical trade study an Advanced Diploma of Electrical Supply Industry Power Systems at Skills Tech Australia, Eagle Farm TAFE. The program also comprises of on-the-job and off-the-job training covering both technical and business skills.
Traineeships are either structured over a two year (full time) or four year (part time) period, as each program is tailored to specific business area needs. Participants undergo on-job rotations in various ENERGEX departments, including but not limited to: Asset Management, Distribution Construction, Distribution Planning and Design, Substation Circuitry and Layout Design and Metering.
Currently ENERGEX has more than 50 trainees completing their Advanced Diploma.
Who can apply?
ENERGEX seeks trainees who possess:

A minimum of a pass in Year 12 level English and Maths;

A proven interest in computers, electronics or electrical principles.
Please note: Some programs are only available to applicants who possess a trade qualification.
What is the recruitment process?
The number of trainees ENERGEX takes on each year varies depending on business needs. Applicants for the trainee program are typically required to undergo the following steps in the selection process:

Technical Positions at ENERGEX
